Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Trinity Health of Michigan have entered into a new partnership to improve care and decrease costs. Formerly, hospitals used a "fee for service" system in which insurance companies paid hospitals for each patient, visit, test etc. Now, the new program encourages doctors to beocme more efficient in their care, and gives an incentive to reduce readmissions due to a similar problem or diagnosis.
