A study by RAND health found that hospital emergency rooms account for nearly half of all hospital admissions in the United States. ERs were also the source of growing admission rates between 2003 and 2009. The study supports a push to increase primary care visits and reduce the usage of emergency rooms because ERs serve as a source of increased healthcare costs. To read more about this, click HERE.
