Medicare has recently proposed a 0.8% pay increase for hospitals who meet quality guidelines and cutting payments for those who do not. They has also clarified definations on which patients should be admitted into hospitals or kept as outpatients. These chages are part of the program to reduce hosptital 30-day readmission rates.
