As hospitals try to reduce readmission rates in order to curb Medicare penalty cuts, many say that it is out of their control. Sam Flanders, M.D., chief quality officer with Beaumont Health System stated that they cannot control the fact that most readmissions are due to failed follow up care or a lack of understanding the doctor’s recommendations. Doctors and hospitals have yet to find a way to work towards solving this problem. Here is where PiCC fills an important void in health care.
