CEO Dr. Ora Pescovitz, U of M executive vice president for medical affairs along with Douglas L. Strong, CEO of U of M Hospitals and Health Centers; and James O. Woolliscroft, dean of the U of M medical school sent a staff wide email last week reporting that the University of Michigan Hospital needs to cut expenses in order to balance its budget. The hospital recently sought to cut costs through attrition management, reduced appointments, reduced overtime, reduced temporary staff and contract labor.
