Many private practice physicians have been forced between laying off employees, or selling their practice to be included under a hospital. Through the Medicare System, hospitals are reimbursed for larger amounts of money than private practice doctors. This makes it difficult for these doctors to provide services at reasonable fees. One plus side of this is that it encourages more coordinated care among service providers, and better overall services to clients.
